This course is dedicated to the Orixás, Afro-Brazilian nature deities. During the course, the history and traditions of the Afro-Brazilian religion "Candomblé Ketu" are presented; the hierarchy of gods and goddesses and their accompanying rhythms and songs are explained (see project "Rhyhtms Of The Gods"). The dance steps, gestures, and chants are explained in detail and practiced to live percussion. Rhythm and dance are deeply connected, so the various drum voices and patterns are also introduced and explained during the course. This course does not consist of conventional "dancing lessons", but deals mainly with the traditions and spiritual background of the Afro-Brazilian culture.
The course is provided usually once or twice a year, divided into 8 classes of 90 minutes each. The next planned course will be announced here in time.
